Death always comes too soon

“Get down, get down!” a male voice yelled.
Gunshots ran through the air like a hot knife through butter.
She looked around.People were running everywhere, and she was just standing there, doing nothing.
On the ground was her doll, her once pretty dress no more than a cloth now.
The street where she stood was almost empty.
Her eyes looked around.
The houses were empty, the sun was shining but it wasn’t pretty.
Then she picked up her doll and hugged her.
“Momma will find us, don’ worry,” she told her doll, running her small hand through her doll’s hair.
Her doll was very different from her.
Doll had blue eyes, white skin and blond hair, she had brown hair, brown skin and black eyes.
She could hear footsteps coming her way, so she looked up.
A man stood there, a gun in his hands.
Something told her to run away, but her feet didn’t listen to that little voice deep inside her mind.
After a moment she too, thought it was a good idea to run, but it was too late.
Yet another gun shot rang through the air, and her now lifeless body fell to the ground.
